Flattering silhouettes, the option to rock a modest or plunging neckline and resistant to bodily fluids – introducing the new medical grade scrubs which are both fashionable and functional.
The 21 Scrubs label is the work of Bondi Vet stars Drs Alison and Audrey Shen and their fashion designer friend Rebecca Lau Marsh.
The elegant designs are already being swooned over by frontline medical workers who are looking forward post lockdown to letting their hair down after a long shift without having to go home to change.
Fashion in the operating theatre.
“I wear them with really cute white sneakers, a nice handbag, cute earrings,” said Dr Audrey.
“I will be wearing mine out as soon as this lockdown is over.”
Dr Alison, who is Brisbane based but returns to Sydney regularly for filming and also to run the Aussie Mobile Vet business she shares with her twin, has already had the pleasure of wearing the scrubs out on the town.
“The high collar shirt and jumpsuit styles can both unbutton so it can go from really smart to really sexy,” Dr Alison said.
Boring medical garb? Scrub that!
“All doctors carry stethoscopes around their neck, it’s a thing. As soon as you bend down that stethoscope falls straight off and you’ve got hundreds of dollars of equipment hitting the ground, or in our case, hitting a dog or cat in the face.
“So we’ve got signature gold or silver buttons to fasten it on either side of your shoulders.”
Ms Lau Marsh has dressed the likes of Eva Longoria, Sophie Monk and Carrie Bickmore.
The established designer said it was a very different experience working in the medical uniform space alongside two of her old friends.
She is currently working on the upcoming second drop of new scrub designs and colours.
“When we were coming up with the name we decided on 21 Scrubs because we thought 2021 will be the year of healing from 2020 and there will be such a spotlight on essential workers,” Ms Lau Marsh said.
The scrubs retail from $75.
The Shen sisters are currently filming their third season of Bondi Vet for Channel 10.
